As teams gear up for the first match on March 26, 2022, here are the names of five debutants expected to stand out!

    Dewald Brevis

South Africa's right-hand batsman widely linked with cricket icon AB De Villiers, is a player to look out for. Affectionally called, “Baby ABD," his batting style resembles that of his icon, De Villiers. Additionally, he makes for a talented leg-break bowler which is why the five-time champions Mumbai Indians understandably picked him during the auctions this year. At the tender age of 18, he set a record for scoring the most runs in a single edition of the event during the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022. The Sachin Tendulkar-inspired young star was also credited with seven dismissals thanks to his handy leg-spin.

    Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Maharasthra's Rajvardhan Hangargekar will make his Indian Premier League debut from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side, identifies as a skilled all-rounder. The defending champions were impressed by his ability to score sixes in India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign in the West Indies in early 2022. Now that pacer Deepak Chahar is afflicted with a right quadriceps injury, the newcomer might fill in until he is fit to play. Hangargekar is expected to be ideal as a finisher for the Mumbai Indians. The 19-year-old bats right-handed and bowls right-arm quick.

    Yash Dhull

Yash Dhull became popular after he guided India to its fifth Under-19 World Cup title. The charismatic 19-year-old is a right-handed batsman and an off-break bowler. About to make his first Indian Premier League appearance as a Delhi Capitals member under wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's captaincy, Dhull has a record of scoring two hundreds on his Ranji Trophy debut, which is a rare achievement only two other cricketers have unlocked. During the semi-final of the Under-19 World Cup, he secured a century and proved himself as one of the best middle-order batsmen. In his history of eight One Day International matches played, he has 281 runs to his credit. Brought up in Delhi, the star teen is excited to play for his 'home team'.

    Rovman Powell

Star player of Jamaica, Rovman Powell's base price was INR 75 lakh but the Delhi Capitals offered INR 2.80 crores bid. The Kolkata Knight Riders took him for the 2017 edition but his sportsmanship remained unseen throughout the league. Additionally, he was not picked the following year. However, his talent as a strong batsman and habit of smashing balls casually was recognized later when he scored his maiden Twenty20 hundred against England in January 2022. Powell would make a solid finisher for his franchise as predicted by fans. His medium pace is well suited for the short format of the game.
