Cricket Review: Australia VS Zimbabwe - Ryan Burl's quick fifer destroyed Australia and helped Zimbabwe

Though the Zimbabwe Cricket team lost the series, they added another glory to their history. First ever win against Australia in Australia

It isn't easy to outrun a team like Australia, even in a game like this. A low-scoring probable one-sided match turned into an absolute thriller, but Zimbabwe's skipper Regis Chakabwa stood strong in the chase and took his team to a 3-wickets victory.

Zimbabwe, this time did what Australia did to them in the first two ODIs. The bowlers took the whole Australian batting line-up wicket on just 141.

Of these 141, 80% of runs were scored by David Warner (94) and Glenn Maxwell (19). The fact that only one other batter (Maxwell) got into double-figures kind of sums up the innings for Australia.

Things were bad when Australia was on 72/5, but probably no one imagined it would end up that bad. Ryan Burl took the last five wickets of Australia in just a three-over spell to reduce them to 141/10.

Aaron Finch - the Australian skipper, said, "Zimbabwe was great with the ball, had us in trouble. You never take things for granted because, in international cricket, you can get beaten on any given day. They showed it today."

Chaing the small total, Zimbabwe lost just one wicket in the first powerplay of 10 overs. But in the 11th over, Josh Hazlewood took back-to-back wickets and reduced Zimbabwe to 44/3. They tried to regain control, but Zimbabwe lost their two most crucial wicket of opener Tadiwanashe Marumani's 35(47) and Sikandar Raza's 8(19) in the next eight overs and were 77/5.

It looked like Australia would take the remaining five wickets quickly as Zimbabwe did. But a priceless little partnership of 38 runs between Zimbabwe skipper Regis Chakabva and Tony Munyonga pushed them closer to victory.

When Zimbabwe lost their 6th wicket, they required just 27 runs. They were almost there, and with little support from Ryan Burl, Zimbabwe won the match by 3-wickets.

"Will take this win and the confidence from here. To come back here later for the World Cup over here, it'll give us a lot of confidence.". Said Ryan Burl.

Zimbabwe's performance in the last few series has been impressive. They started by whitewashing Bangladesh in all six white-ball games, gave India good competition and now won the game against cricketing giant Australia. Zimbabwe has lost the series by 1-2, but they would be happy and determined for the future.

"Wow @ZimCricketv , that is some result! More signs that you are looking up.", Harsha Bhogle.
