During his golden run for RCB in IPL 2022, Karthik stated that the T20 World Cup was his ultimate objective, which he eventually attained.
During the IPL, Karthik told colleague Virat Kohli after a stunning performance of 66* off 34 against Delhi Capitals that his ultimate objective was to play for India and that he desperately wanted to win the World Cup for the Men in Blue.
"My long-term goal is to play for my nation. I'm aware that the World Cup is just around the corner. I sincerely want to be a part of that World Cup and assist India to cross the finish line. India has not won a multi-nation competition in a long time.
I want to be the person who assists India in accomplishing this goal. For that, you must be aware of numerous factors, and you must strive to be the player that causes others to think," In April, Karthik stated.
