The batter is expected to return to international cricket after a couple of months.

Earlier this month, KL Rahul was forced to opt out of the T20I series against South Africa due to a groin injury. The batter, over the years, had recurrent lower abdominal-related issues, be it groin strain or hamstring injury.

Taking to his Twitter handle, KL Rahul gave an update about his health and wrote, "Hello everyone. It's been a tough couple of weeks but the surgery was successful. I'm healing and recovering well. My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers. See you soon."

For recovery, KL Rahul will undergo rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru. Though it's challenging to keep track of the timeline in such recoveries, the time required to recover completely post hernia surgery usually takes between six to twelve weeks. This implies his availability for the Asia Cup also remains doubtful.

A BCCI source said, "He [KL Rahul] will be resting for a few days, and then his physical rehabilitation will start at the NCA. That will take a few weeks before he starts with his regular net session and let's see if he can make a comeback in the Asia Cup. But that could be tough and go."

Being one of the prolific scorers of team India, his recovery is crucial for team India especially looking at the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
