After winning the toss, Afghanistan's skipper Mohammad Nabi opted to bat first, but the visitors left themselves with too much work to do with the ball after scoring just 122-8 from their 20 overs.

As Josh Little, Mark Adair, Curtis Campher, and Gareth Delany each took two wickets, Hashmatullah Shahidi scored the highest with 36 runs.

Before Tuesday's series opener, Ireland had dropped eight straight T20 international matches, but the team appeared to be cruising to victory thanks to captain Andy Balbirnie's 46.

The loss of three wickets for 14 runs gave Afghanistan hope until Dockrell's 19-ball cameo propelled Ireland over the line with an over to spare.

Player of the Match: The player of the game was Josh Little. He claimed that his rhythm while bowling was good. Since the World Cup, he has been successful at bowling around the wicket to right-handers. He said getting wickets in the Powerplay offers a great chance to win the match.
