Having a dominating outing in English County Championship 2022, the batter is scoring heavily in List A cricket, i.e., Royal London One-Day Cup 2022.

The 34-year-old accumulated 1094 runs in 8 matches, stitched beautifully from three double centuries against Derbyshire, Durham, and Middlesex. After this stunning outing, he broke the record for the most number of double centuries by an Indian batter in the county championship history and is now left behind all-time greats like CB Fry, Graeme Hick and Jack Hobbs with his 16th double ton in first-class cricket.

Scoring big runs in the county helped him regain his spot back in India's test team for the rescheduled test match against England, and he scored 13 and 66 runs in the two innings.

His form became one of the reasons to be chosen to lead the side in the absence of regular skipper Tom Haines'. He carried forward his sublime form from the County championship to now slam back-to-back centuries in the ongoing Royal London Cup.

He smashed his maiden one-day ton against Warwickshire (79-ball 107), which included 22 runs from 45th over bowled by Liam Norwell. He later smashed his career-best score of 174 runs against Surrey.

Cheteshwar Pujara-led-Sussex is now placed sixth with 4 points from 4 games. Pujara played his last international ODI way back in 2014, but in the form, he is carrying right now, he does feel like one of the strongest contenders for the Indian ODI 4th batter position.
