The Malaysian pairing of Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun secured a hard-fought 21-18 11-21 21-18 victory against Tokyo Olympic champions Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin of Taiwan at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium on July 24 to win the men’s doubles title of the Taipei Open

It was the second title of the World No. 36 Malaysian duo after winning the title at the Syed Modi International earlier this year. The home favorite pairing of Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin failed to end their title drought since winning the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In the women’s doubles event, sixth seeds Ng Tsz Yau and Tsang Hiu Yan of Hong Kong cruised past Ruttanapak Oupthong and Chasinee Korepap 21-8 21-9 in straight sets in the first match of the day to book a spot in the championship match.
The Hongkonger duo returned to the court later in the day to face the Japanese pairing of Rui Hirokami and Yuna Kato in the final match of the women’s doubles event at the Taipei Open. Ng Tsz Yau and Tsang Hiu Yan won the title after securing a 21-15 18-21 21-19 victory in the hard-fought match that lasted three sets.
Chou Tien-Chen and Tai Tzu-Ying brought some respite to the Taiwanese squad on their home court in Taipei.
In the men’s singles event, home favorite Chou Tien-Chen won against Kodai Naraoka of Japan. The 32-year-old World No. 4 lost the opening game to his Japanese opponent 14-21 but roared back by winning the last two games to secure a 14-21, 21-10, 21-6 victory in the championship match to clinch his maiden trophy of the season.
World No. 2 Tai Tzu-Ying of Taiwan cruised past Saena Kawakami of Japan 21-17, 21-16 in straight sets at the final of the Super 300 event to win her third trophy for the season.
