BWF World Championships: Viktor Axelsen beats Kunlavut Vitidsarn to win second Badminton World Title

    World number 17 Kunlavut Vitidsarn was looking to become the first-ever Thai shuttler to win the title at the Badminton World Championships. 

    He advanced to the final after beating defending champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore 21-12, 17-21, 21-8 in the quarterfinal.

    Viktor Axelsen continued his fantastic performance at the BWF World Championships, having advanced to the final without losing a single game. He completely dominated the 21-year-old Thai opponent and clinched the opening game with a powerful smash..

    Viktor Axelsen secured the victory after Kunlavut Vitidsarn’s return shot went long, and the Danish shuttler threw his arms up in the air in celebration. It was the sixth singles title victory of Viktor Axelsen for the season.

    Akane Yamaguchi wins her second consecutive badminton women’s world title

    Japanese shuttler Akane Yamaguchi won against Chen Yufei of China 21-12, 10-21, and 21-14 in the championship match to successfully defend her BWF World Championships title.

    No. 1 seed Akane Yamaguchi won her maiden world title after beating Tai Tzu-Ying of Taiwan at the 2021 BWF World Championships in Huelva, Spain.

    Chen Yufei was planning to become the first Chinese shuttle since 2011 to win the women’s singles world title.

    The 25-year-old Japanese shuttler cruised through the opening game before clinching it with an explosive smash. Chen Yufei roared back in the second game and forced the match into a decider.

    Chen Yufei started the third game aggressively and raced to a big lead before closing out the match with a shot into the net by Chen Yufei to win the second title of the year, having clinched the title at the All England Open earlier this year.
